Exciting art workshops at St. Joseph's College

ORGANISED IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE READING GUILD OF ARTISTS

During the 2011 Exhibition we ran the following workshops:

SIMPLE MIXED MEDIA PRINTING - Tutor Karen Carter

Karen Carter

A fun and informal workshop where you will learn some simple printing techniques combined with tissue paper collage and other media to produce a range of experimental pieces of work using methods you can try at home. There will be a materials fee of £1.50 payable to the tutor. karenillustration@hotmail.com

Karen is an enthusiastic and experienced tutor specialising in printmaking, acrylics and mixed media. Her method of teaching is both informal but instructional, aiming to encourage everyone's creativity in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Having studied design and illustration at Art College she worked for many years as a commercial artist. She now divides her time between teaching and pursuing her own work, with involvement in exhibitions, studio trails, residencies and private commissions. See her work at www.artcrop.co.uk

MATERIALS / EQUIPMENT TO BRING

Small sketch / object of inspiration to work from

General basic drawing materials (pencil / pen / rubber / tape / brushes- whatever you have)

Glue stick (such as Pritt / Bostick)

Water pot / yogurt pot / kitchen roll / apron

Old newspaper / scrap paper

HAVING FUN WITH STILL LIFE - Tutor Belinda Fitzwilliams

Belinda's first love is drawing. She has taught adult education in Berkshire and Surrey for some 20 years. Gaining a wide variety of skills in drawing, watercolour and mixed media. She was awarded the New English Art Club Drawing Scholarship culminating in a show at the Mall Gallery, London. Her sessions emphasise the fun that can be achieved by experimenting.www.benefitz.co.uk/bjf

MATERIALS / EQUIPMENT TO BRING

A3 pad of cartridge paper

Drawing board if you have one.

She will supply pastels, charcoal, rubbers and a limited supply of paper. 

PAINTING WITH PASTELS - Tutor Jenny Halstead PS

This workshop is an introduction to using pastels for beginners and the more experienced, experimenting with their use and building up knowledge from simple drawing to a finished piece. www.jennyhalstead.co.uk

Jenny works in pastel, as well as other mediums and enjoys drawing as well as the excitement of colour. She was recently elected a Member of the Pastel Society UK and exhibits regularly. She is currently Chairman of the Reading Guild of Artists.

MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT TO BRING

Any pastels you have - hard, soft or oil pastels

Pastel paper on which to work

Drawing Board, slightly larger than your paper

Specialist Pastel paper may be available for purcahse on the day

There are only 12 places on each workshop to ensure interaction with the tutor and these are available by advance booking only.

Confirmation of booking will be sent to all workshop participants.
